Legacy Laundries Initiative™
When the Owner Retires, the Block Shouldn't Go Dark
The Legacy Laundries Initiative™ is a community wealth-building, shared ownership, and economic equity demonstration. Focusing first on laundromats — essential, cash-flowing micro-businesses in working-class communities — the initiative is building a replicable pipeline for converting fragmented small business sectors into scalable shared ownership platforms. YANCY Holdings is seeking support for this pilot across Georgia, South Florida, and Central Alabama, proving a national model for preserving local businesses, protecting neighborhood infrastructure, and expanding prosperity-building opportunities.
Executive Summary
The Legacy Laundries Initiative is a pilot demonstration led by YANCY Holdings to address the United States’ emerging “Great Ownership Transfer,” where up to six (6) million small businesses will face succession challenges over the next decade. This is a programmatic acquisition finance strategy for modernizing laundromats and building a pathway to employee ownership.
Innovative Strategy
Focused on neighborhood laundromats—essential, cash-flowing micro-businesses embedded in working-class communities—the initiative deploys an Entrepreneurship-through-Acquisition (ETA) strategy to acquire, stabilize, and modernize fragmented single-site operators, with a clear pathway toward Employee Ownership (EO) over time.
Target Regions
Operating initially across Georgia, South Florida, and Central Alabama, the platform integrates acquisition execution, operational standardization, and ownership transition design that is supported by a coalition of cooperative developers, financial advisors, and national EO leaders.
Demonstration Pilot
Through a 12-month demonstration pilot, Legacy Laundries will (1) build a replicable acquisition pipeline, (2) demonstrate scalable ownership transition pathways for micro-businesses, and (3) produce a national model for converting fragmented local enterprises into worker-owned platforms that preserve neighborhood infrastructure and expand wealth-building opportunities.
